Course overview

This second year programme is validated by our university partner, the Heriot-Watt School of Textiles and Design, and leads to a Diploma in Higher Education awarded by Heriot- Watt University. Students successfully completing this Higher Diploma need just one further year of study to achieve a bachelors degree, for which they can stay at the College or else transfer to Heriot-Watt University campuses in either Edinburgh or Dubai.

The course builds on the skills achieved on the Foundation Diploma, particularly in the key areas of pattern cutting, textiles, digital imaging, knitware and contextual studies.

Students studying on this second year programme learn the necessary techniques for garment construction and so is ideal for those who wish to make and sell their own designs. It also prepares students for the academic rigour of the final year of the degree.
