Foundation Diploma in Fashion Design
A foundation programme that guarantees entry to university
Course Overview
This intensive foundation course provides you with essential preparation for entry to degree courses in fashion and textiles. You will experience a range of fashion activities which will assess your strengths and confirm your aspirations and lead to a more specialised area of interest.
All British universities, including our partner university, Heriot-Watt, require applicants to fashion degree programmes to submit a portfolio of their work as part of the application process, and it is on this portfolio that their application will mainly be judged. On this foundation programme you will, over the year, put together a portfolio of your best work under the expert guidance of experienced tutors who know exactly what it takes to get onto the best degree programmes.
A team of professional artists, fashion designers and teachers will support you. You will have a dedicated studio space, access to computing labs, an internet café library and print equipment. Our Central London location will give you easy access to some of the finest museums, art galleries and fashion houses, from which to draw your inspiration.
The climax of the course is a fashion show, open to the public, where you will be able to show your designs - on the catwalk!

University placement
Although the College offers a two year bachelors degree programme in Fashion in association with Heriot-Watt University, our Foundation Diploma students are certainly not limited to this. They can transfer to Heriot-Watt's Edinburgh campus for a wider choice of degrees or to another university if they would prefer. The University of the Arts London Awarding Body Diploma, which our students achieve by passing our Foundation Diploma, is recognised by universities throughout the UK.
See our University Entrance page for more details.
