Diploma in Fashion Design
A foundation programme that provides access to university degrees
This exciting foundation programme provides you with essential preparation for entry to degree courses in fashion and textiles. You will experience a range of fashion activities which will assess your strengths and confirm your aspirations and lead to a more specialised area of interest.
All British universities, including our partner university, Heriot-Watt, require applicants to fashion degree programmes to submit a portfolio of their work as part of the application process, and it is on this portfolio that their application will mainly be judged. On this foundation programme you will, over the year, put together a portfolio of your best work under the expert guidance of experienced tutors.
A team of professional artists, fashion designers and teachers will support you. You will have a dedicated studio space, access to computing labs, a virtual learning environment and a well stocked library. Our Central London location will give you easy access to some of the finest museums, art galleries and fashion houses, from which to draw your inspiration.
The climax of the course is a fashion show, open to the public, where you will be able to show your designs - on the catwalk!
- Stage 1: Research Stage -
A structured programme of drawing and visual studies will help to identify your skills, strengths and interests. You will choose to study one broad fashion and textile discipline such as fashion design and illustration, fashion textiles and fashion design, fashion futures and jewellery.
- Stage 3: Project Stage -
Building on your prior experience and linking skills already acquired you will develop your individual potential by carrying out a major fashion or design project resulting in a fashion show and exhibition.
