This programme is the logical study progression for successful graduates of the BA in Business and Finance and will prepare students for a potentially influential and lucrative career in the financial sector. For those who have the necessary aptitude, and can prove it at bachelor’s level, an MSc in Financial Management is perfect training for high level decision making in the areas of corporate financial management, derivatives, risk management, mergers and acquisitions etc, and gives access to senior positions in investment banks, financial consultancies and government ministries.

Course structure

The full-time MSc. programme comprises nine subjects divided into three levels, with each level being taught over a period of 6 months. Support tuition is built around textual course materials in ring binder format, provided by the University, which contain full course notes plus assignments, practice questions and model answers.

On passing each module students receive a Certificate of Achievement from the University. When three have been passed the student is eligible for a Post Graduate Certificate and, when six have been passed, a Post Graduate Diploma. When a student has passed all nine a Master's Degree is awarded at an (optional) graduation ceremony at the University in Edinburgh.

Academic Requirements:

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification (such as CIMA or ACCA)
  • O level English language, or overseas equivalent, or IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

  • SELT Level B2
