a-friendly-campus

The College offers a comfortable 'high-tech' learning environment within spacious and conveniently located buildings.

The Campus

The growth of the College in the last decade has been phenomenal, and the consequent addition of Hannah House, formerly the management training HQ of Marks & Spencer PLC, to the existing six-floor Parliament House building, ensures that our students have a spacious and versatile learning environment.

With the twin sites being only a short walk apart it is easy for staff and students to move from one building to another, and with the contribution of the good social, leisure and sporting facilities at International Students House and the residential accommodation of the London Hostel Association, the College is now able to offer its students an authentic inner-city 'on-campus' experience.

Parliament House

We moved into Parliament House in 1997 when we outgrew Avon House, 500 metres away, which the College had occupied since the 1930s.

Parliament House accommodates the main administrative offices of the College and the Business Studies and Computing departments. The top floor is entirely devoted to looking after students, housing the Registry, Compliance Office, and a very friendly Student Services department that provides help and advice, accommodation, visa extensions and registers students for their examinations. From autumn 2009 there will also be a Job Shop, which will find work - part-time, vacation and career - for WLC students. All these services are provided free of charge.

Hannah House

Hannah House is a five minute walk from Parliament House and was opened in 2004 .It houses the Hotel Management and Tourism Management departments and our Fashion studios. It also accommodates the London branch of our English Language school which enables WLC to recruit students whose first language is not English and provide language training either in advance of their chosen degree programme or simultaneously.

Hannah House also offers students superb support facilities such as an excellent library, a learning resource centre, a 35 terminal internet café, a superb common room with sound system and plasma TV, a cinema with 8 channel sound, and a subsidised restaurant which provides cheap wholesome hot food throughout the day. It's a very nice place to be!

Classroom Technology

All lecture rooms are air-conditioned and incorporate digital technology which is individually controlled by flat-screen computers built into the lecturers' desks. These computers are networked and are used to record students' attendance and progress test scores. They are also connected to ceiling-mounted digital projectors, thus giving the lecturer the opportunity, via the internet, to bring the commercial world into the classroom. Not many academic institutions provide this level of technology in every single classroom.
